Barcelona Keeps an Eye on…

Sergi Dominguez, a former product of La Masia, could bring an unexpected financial advantage to FC Barcelona this summer.

The young central defender, who honed his skills at La Masia before transferring to Dinamo Zagreb last summer, continues to catch the attention of clubs across Europe.

While a transfer is possible this summer, it is expected to come at a hefty price.

Among the clubs monitoring the defender’s situation is Lazio, who are seeking a replacement for Mario Gila, along with various other top-tier European teams.

Dinamo Zagreb sets their price

As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Dinamo Zagreb has been clear about their position: they will not entertain offers below €14 million for Dominguez.

At just 20, the Spanish defender has a contract with the club until 2029, which gives them a strong bargaining advantage.

Barcelona sold him to Dinamo Zagreb for €1.2 million but negotiated a deal that entitles them to 20 percent of any future sale profit.

Potential windfall for Barcelona

If Dinamo Zagreb sells Dominguez at their asking price, Barcelona stands to earn approximately €2.8 million through the sell-on clause.

Additionally, the Catalan club would benefit from FIFA’s training compensation mechanism.

Since Barcelona developed the defender at La Masia between 2020 and 2025, they would be entitled to receive around €270,000 in training compensation if a transfer occurs.

In total, the deal could yield nearly €3 million for the Catalan club.

Dinamo in no rush to sell

Dinamo Zagreb believes Dominguez still has considerable potential for growth and anticipate his market value will increase if he secures another season of regular first-team action.

With no urgent financial pressure to sell, the Croatian club can afford to wait and reject offers that do not meet their valuation.

For Barcelona, this situation is undoubtedly one to monitor. Although they no longer control the defender’s future, any significant transfer could lead to an unexpected financial return due to the clauses established during Dominguez’s departure from La Masia.
