A recovery period of one month was recommended for the 27-year-old midfielder, with surgery not being an option at this time.

Olmo Set for Return Against Espanyol in Preparation for Super Cup

According to AS, Olmo is on track to make his comeback next month as Barcelona goes up against RCD Espanyol in the Catalan derby.

As previously noted, he is expected to be sidelined for a month, with this period ending just a day before Barcelona’s match against Espanyol in Cornella.

Now, the former RB Leipzig star hopes to participate for a few minutes in the derby to regain his competitive edge ahead of the Spanish Super Cup in Saudi Arabia.

Barcelona is set to face Athletic Club in the Super Cup semi-finals, with the potential for a final showdown against either Real Madrid or Atletico Madrid, should they defeat the Basque side.

Having Olmo back in form for these significant matches will be vital for Hansi Flick & his team, especially as the Spanish international was beginning to find his best form before the injury.

So far this season, Olmo has played in 13 matches, scoring four goals and providing two assists. He has missed 11 games due to injury and aims to put his fitness challenges behind him for good in 2026.
