Barcelona to make initial…

It seems that FC Barcelona isn’t planning to delay activity in the summer transfer market.

With the near completion of their signing of Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United, the Blaugrana are preparing to pursue their primary target for a centre-forward position, Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

First official bid imminent

According to reports from Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona is preparing to submit their first official offer to Atletico Madrid for Alvarez in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The move follows a direct meeting earlier this week between Deco, Barcelona’s sporting director, and the agent of the Argentine striker, which was facilitated by Juanma Lopez.

On his end, Alvarez has made it clear to Atletico Madrid that he wishes to leave, having already rejected their renewal offer.

Barcelona aims to establish groundwork for a deal well before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as they expect other clubs to show interest in the 26-year-old forward.

€100 million cap for Alvarez

As mentioned previously, Barcelona has identified Alvarez as their key target but has set a specific limit of €100 million for the transfer.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid is reluctant to allow the Argentine player to join a direct competitor and is demanding a fee around €150 million.

Negotiations between the two clubs could prove difficult; however, Alvarez’s declaration to leave may expedite the process.

For now, the La Liga champions are ready to make their opening proposal for Alvarez, with formal discussions set to commence with Atletico Madrid.
