Barcelonas €20 Million Plus

Barcelona has made a notable move in their efforts to acquire Karim Adeyemi. However, the competition to secure the forward from Borussia Dortmund is still ongoing.

According to Luca Bendoni, Barcelona has presented a proposal comprising €20 million with an additional €10 million contingent on performance metrics. Nonetheless, Dortmund is aiming for a higher transfer fee before agreeing to any deal.

This news comes on the heels of earlier reports confirming that the Blaugrana had made an official approach for the German international, as Hansi Flick seeks to bring one of his long-term targets to Camp Nou.

Barcelona’s Initial Offer Lacks Sufficiency

As reported by Bendoni, Barcelona’s opening bid for Karim Adeyemi is structured as a guaranteed €20 million fee, supplemented by an additional €10 million in potential performance-based add-ons.

This proposal diverges slightly from prior reports suggesting Barcelona was also including a percentage of any future sale as part of their bid alongside a future sale percentage.

While the total package indicates the club’s commitment to finalizing the deal, Borussia Dortmund believes the offer still does not meet Adeyemi’s market value.

The Bundesliga club is holding out for approximately €40 million, which creates a notable gap in valuations as discussions progress.

Despite the difference in transfer fees, there has been positive movement regarding the player’s interest.

Adeyemi has already come to a total agreement with Barcelona regarding the terms of a five-year contract, expressing his desire to join the Catalan side.

Barcelona Sees Several Advantages in Their Position

While Borussia Dortmund has maintained a firm stance on their valuation, Barcelona believes the various factors surrounding Adeyemi’s situation warrant a reduced fee.

One major factor in this consideration is Adeyemi’s contract situation.

With only one year remaining on his current contract, Dortmund risks losing him for free next summer if they do not finalize a transfer now.

Barcelona also highlights Adeyemi’s status as a non-regular starter last season and his difficulty in recapturing peak form over the past two years.

From Barcelona’s perspective, these elements diminish his market value and complicate Dortmund’s €40 million asking price.
