Barnsley are currently in discussions with experienced striker David McGoldrick regarding a contract extension.
The 38-year-old former Republic of Ireland international netted 15 goals in 37 league matches this season.
After the departure of Conor Hourihane, the League One club has reappointed Daniel Stendel as their manager and is also engaging with out-of-contract defender Eoghan O’Connell.
Moreover, the club has activated the one-year options in the contracts of defenders Mael de Gevigney and Jack Shepherd, as well as midfielder Adam Phillips.
On the other hand, defenders Marc Roberts and Tennai Watson, along with midfielder Jon Russell and forwards Andrew Dallas and Max Watters, have all been released following the end of their contracts.
The Reds concluded the season in 15th place, finishing 16 points adrift of the play-off spots.
