At the end of last year, there were reports that Leon Goretzka had reached out to his former coach Hansi Flick regarding a potential transfer to Barcelona. This speculation arose during a time when the German international faced an uncertain future at Bayern Munich, with his contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Recently, Goretzka addressed these rumors in an interview, firmly stating that he never made such contact.
Goretzka Clarifies Flick Rumors
In an interview with Die Zeit ( h/t iMiaSanMia), Goretzka explicitly denied any conversations with Hansi Flick regarding his future at Bayern Munich.
“I read that I supposedly contacted Hansi Flick in Barcelona. I can deny that here and now,” he stated.
Having joined Bayern Munich in 2018 from Schalke, Goretzka has played nearly 300 competitive matches for the club during his tenure.

As Goretzka’s contract winds down this summer, he will become a free agent, positioning him as a potential target for Barcelona.
Earlier this month, it was reported that Barcelona is keeping tabs on the midfielder, prompted by a request made by Hansi Flick.
It’s worth noting that Goretzka and Flick have previously collaborated with the German national team and at Bayern Munich, where Goretzka played a key role in the club’s treble-winning season in 2020.
Under Flick’s management, Goretzka has accumulated over 4,500 minutes and participated in 65 competitive matches, making him one of the coach’s key players.
However, there has been little recent speculation surrounding Goretzka, suggesting that Barcelona may prioritize signing players for other positions, particularly in central defense.
