Bayern Munich’s recent Champions League triumph over Union St. Gilloise
featured a mix of challenging moments. Nonetheless, the German records champions didn’t dwell on the few hiccups. Despite a lackluster first half, a player being sent off, and an uncommon penalty miss from Harry Kane, Bayern advanced to the UCL knockout stage.
In fact, the German football “Personality of the Year” has missed two penalties this season. Fortunately for Kane, both misses occurred during the opening round of the DFB Pokal and in Wednesday’s Champions League match, ensuring that his Bundesliga penalty record remains unblemished.

Kane also netted two goals in the latest UCL match, leading FCB’s sporting board member Max Eberl to chuckle when asked about the penalty miss during the mixed zone.
Harry Kane’s Miss
“I think I need to hype him up a bit,” Eberl joked. “Of course, I’m just kidding. He can miss occasionally. I believe he wanted to get it on target, but he hit the crossbar.”
“We’re happy to have Harry since he often breaks the deadlock,” Eberl continued. “He scored from two set pieces [one penalty and a corner] that made the difference. We know we can depend on Harry.”
“I’ll improve next time,” Kane remarked in his mixed zone interview. “We have a packed schedule in February, making today’s win vital.”
