Aberdeen have completed the signing of Belgian forward Mitchy Ntelo from Swiss side Yverdon-Sport for an undisclosed fee, with manager Stephen Robinson citing the player’s versatility as a major factor.
The 25-year-old, who can play centrally or out wide, has agreed a two-year contract with a club option for an additional season.
Ntelo is closing in on 150 senior appearances and has scored 30 goals, including six in six starts during a loan spell at Bulgarian club Botev Vratsa last season.
“We’ve monitored Mitchy for a while and are pleased to bring him in,” said Robinson. “He’s tall, extremely quick, and comfortable both as a central striker and in wide roles. While most of his goals have come through the middle, we believe he can significantly impact games from the flanks. He adds another dimension out wide while also providing real competition at centre-forward.”
Ntelo began at his hometown club Standard Liège before a productive loan at MVV Maastricht in the Netherlands. He later moved to Charleroi and Bulgaria’s Lokomotiv Plovdiv, then joined Yverdon-Sport two years ago. After Yverdon’s relegation from the Swiss top tier, he went on loan to Botev Vratsa earlier this year.
