Borussia Dortmund Boosts…

Sport Bild has reported that Borussia Dortmund is increasing its efforts to secure the signing of Barcelona right-back Héctor Fort as they work on finalizing their squad for the upcoming season. The report indicates that Dortmund has initiated direct discussions with Barcelona regarding the 20-year-old, who ranks high on their list for strengthening the right side of defense. Fort is reportedly interested in a move to Germany, although an agreement between the two clubs is still not in reach.

Barcelona is reportedly seeking up to €20m for the La Masia product. Dortmund, having already made significant investments in players like Giannis Konstantelias and Joey Veerman this summer, appears hesitant to meet that asking price and is exploring alternatives such as a loan or a more budget-friendly transfer option.

Fort has already made 30 competitive appearances for Barcelona’s first team. The Spain youth international spent the previous season on loan at Elche before returning to Barcelona this summer.

Dortmund is also looking at other potential signings. One such option is Chelsea defender Josh Acheampong, who can play both as a center-back and right-back, following his 17 appearances in the Premier League last season. Additionally, Torino‘s Marcus Pedersen has reportedly been offered to BVB and could be a more seasoned option.

Dortmund’s Focus on Young Talent

The pursuit of Fort aligns with Dortmund’s ongoing commitment to nurturing young players within the club. On Wednesday, BVB confirmed that 17-year-old midfielder Enzo Duarte has signed a long-term professional contract following an impressive preseason with the first team.

Duarte, who joined Dortmund from Swift Hesperingen last summer, has already earned five caps for Luxembourg and made history by becoming the youngest senior international in Borussia Dortmund’s history when he debuted at 16.

“We are delighted to have secured Enzo for the long term,” stated managing director Lars Ricken, commending Duarte’s rapid progression and the promise he showcased during the preseason.

Duarte expressed his ambition to debut for Dortmund “in front of the Yellow Wall,” while recognizing the hard work that lies ahead.
