Borussia Dortmunds Carney…

Sky Germany and Bild report that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is contemplating a change in his international allegiance.

Chukwuemeka is reportedly weighing the option of switching his national representation from England to Austria.

In anticipation of the upcoming World Cup this summer, head coach Ralf Rangnick and the Austrian Football Association are making another push to persuade Chukwuemeka to choose Austria for his international career. This marks their second attempt, following an unsuccessful effort in 2023:

“As far as we know, he is a player who wants to play for England and not for Austria.”

The 22-year-old is eligible to represent Austria, having been born in Vienna, but opted to play for England, where he was part of the under-19 team that won the Euros in 2022.

Chukwuemeka’s International Options:

In addition to a potential future with Austria, the midfielder is also eligible to play for Nigeria, as well as the England senior team. However, the chances of him breaking into the England setup appear slim, given the depth of talent in their squad, unless he significantly improves his performance.

Expect Austria to compete against Jordan, Argentina, and Algeria in the World Cup. Additionally, Chukwuemeka might participate in friendly matches against Ghana and South Korea as soon as March.
