Watford fans will need to exercise patience with their new acquisition, Edoardo Bove, according to Italian football analyst Daniele Verri.

Bove collapsed during a match while with Fiorentina two years ago and subsequently underwent the fitting of a cardiac defibrillator—a device banned in Italian football.

Nevertheless, the Hornets secured the midfielder’s services last week on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

“It’s important to remember that he hasn’t played professional football in quite some time, so it’s certainly a bold decision for Watford,” Verri stated during an interview with BBC Three Counties Radio.

“He’s a dynamic and tenacious player, but we need to see how he adjusts to the English game, as its pace and intensity are much greater compared to Italian football. Therefore, he will require time to adapt.

“He possesses the qualities to become a vital player for the team, but expecting him to step straight into the starting eleven after such a long absence from the game is simply not realistic.”
