The first half was a balanced contest between two evenly matched sides, though both lacked the quality to create significant scoring opportunities.
Bradford’s on-loan striker from Manchester United, Ethan Wheatley, missed an early chance by sending the ball over the bar, while Bobby Pointon nearly converted a cross from Sarcevic.
Stockport’s lone opportunity came from Malik Mothersille, whose angled shot failed to pose a challenge to Bradford’s goalkeeper, Sam Walker.
The match sparked into life just four minutes after halftime when Lee Evans’s cross was not cleared by Stockport, allowing Sarcevic to half-volley the ball past Ben Hinchliffe.

Stockport came close to equalizing when Isaac Olaofe’s header went wide, as the tempo of the game increased.
Hinchliffe made a save from a Jenson Metcalfe shot, and Walker kept Bradford in front with a crucial stop on a shot from Ben Osborn.
