Burton Albion 1 – 0 Rotherham United (Full Time)

Tyrese Shade secured his 11th goal of the season, leading Burton Albion to a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Rotherham, helping them escape the League One relegation zone.

Burton gradually found their rhythm after a sluggish start, while Rotherham aimed to exploit any fatigue in the Brewers’ lineup, who had recently battled Premier League side West Ham in the FA Cup for 120 minutes.

Midway through the first half, Shade proved to be the difference-maker. A cross from Jake Beesley was mishandled by Kyran Lofthouse, allowing Shade to calmly slot the ball into the bottom corner.

Lofthouse nearly equalized in the very first moments of the second half, but Cameron Dawson saved the shot with his legs, preserving Burton’s slim lead.

Rotherham nearly capitalized on a mistake by Burton’s goalkeeper, Brad Collins, who ventured outside his box, only for Sam Nombe to miss the open goal from a tight angle after reaching the ball first.

Nombe was a persistent threat for the Millers, though his header and a subsequent wayward shot did not find the back of the net against Collins.

In the closing moments, Shade came close to doubling the lead, hitting the side netting with a snapshot, but Burton held on for their first win in six matches.
