Wigan Athletic manager Gary Caldwell has emphasized that his team has accomplished “nothing yet” despite earning seven points out of a possible nine, which has lifted them three points clear of the League One relegation zone, with a game in hand.
The 2-0 win over Exeter City, the team he left to take the helm at Wigan last month, marked Caldwell’s fourth win in eight matches since returning to the Brick Community Stadium for his second term as manager.

This Saturday, Wigan faces Reading (15:00 GMT), coached by former Latics manager Leam Richardson, in the first of eight crucial matches as they strive to remain in the third tier.
“Everyone is coming into work with a smile on their face and eager to push forward,” Caldwell shared with BBC Radio Manchester.
“While we’ve been performing well, we recognize that there’s still a long road ahead, and we must keep that in mind.
“We’ve achieved nothing so far, and we need to focus on continuing to build and make progress. I believe there is still significant potential in this team—we are capable of better.”

Caldwell has quickly turned around the club’s fortunes, having taken charge when they were in 22nd place in League One less than six weeks ago following Ryan Lowe’s exit, but he isn’t complacent about their progress.
“I don’t think you ever feel at ease as a manager,” he remarked.
“I keep saying that ‘the league table will sort itself out by the season’s end,’ and then we can evaluate our achievements as a club for the entire season.
“From now until the season concludes, it’s all about evolving as a team, improving, and accumulating as many points as possible.
“We will never take our foot off the pedal during this time.”
