Francesco Camarda marked his debut goal for Italy’s U21 team in an impressive 4-0 victory over Sweden, calling it “just the beginning” of his international journey. Coach Silvio Baldini praised the team’s spirit and showing strong maturity.

Camarda, the youngest-ever scorer for Italy at this level, successfully executed a clever penalty in Cesena, adding to a noteworthy team performance.

In an interview with Rai Sport, via AlfredoPedulla.com, the Lecce striker, currently on loan from AC Milan, expressed his happiness for both his achievement and the team’s overall display.

“I’m really pleased, primarily with how we performed as a unit – we’re a fantastic group and demonstrated that,” he remarked. “I wasn’t aware that the coach wasn’t fond of that style of penalty, but it worked out well. You take risks, and I act on instinct. I hope Ibrahimović doesn’t mind,” he added with a grin.

“This goal isn’t just about me; it’s crucial for the team. It’s a stepping stone.”

He also highlighted the freedom he allows his players: “I don’t pressure them or concern myself with the opponents. They’re talented and should play without constraints. Even if I’m not a fan of those types of penalties,” he joked, “if a player feels up to it, they should go for it.”

This victory ensures that Italy remains at the top of their Euro 2027 qualifying group with a flawless record.
