Can Moorhouse Make His…

Manchester United’s under-21 coach, Adam Lawrence, is encouraging midfielder Jack Moorhouse to utilize the remaining matches of the season to demonstrate his ability to compete at an elite level.

At just 20 years old, Moorhouse was named on the first-team bench four times last season but did not make his senior debut.

His loan at League One’s Leyton Orient appeared promising, as he impressed in 24 appearances, but a series of deadline-day transfers led to his return to United.

Since coming back, Moorhouse has been named on the bench twice by first-team manager Michael Carrick and regularly participates in first-team training.

Nevertheless, it is during matches like the upcoming Premier League International Cup quarter-final against Real Madrid at Old Trafford that Moorhouse will truly have the opportunity to excel.

“While he’s not a regular at training like Jack Fletcher or Shea Lacey, he has been around often enough,” Lawrence noted.

“There always needs to be space for a player to be told, ‘go out and perform—your performances can earn you a place in the team, get you a loan, or see you step up to the first team.’ It’s the club’s responsibility to create the pathway, but it’s up to the player to seize the opportunity and complete that journey. That’s where Jack currently stands.”

“I’m a huge supporter of Jack. He’s a fantastic player who possesses great ability to receive the ball under pressure and moves gracefully with it.”

“What we expect from him in the upcoming under-21 matches, including the one against Madrid and the play-offs, is to prove he can perform at an elite level and make an impact. We believe he has that potential.”
