The Canadian Men’s National Team faced a major injury setback on Thursday during their group stage match against Qatar.
While already down to 10 men, midfielder Ismaël Koné suffered a serious injury after a tackle by Assim Madibo shortly before the hour mark.

Both teams’ players showed immediate concern, and the official broadcast commentary captured the emotional weight of the moment.
Koné, who currently plays for Sassuolo in Italy, was subsequently stretchered off the field.
According to TSN, Canada’s official World Cup broadcaster, the player had his leg stabilized and was en route to a local hospital in Vancouver.
No official injury report has been confirmed by Canada Soccer as of yet.
