Villa continued to struggle defensively as Liverpool took an early lead, scoring twice within the first 15 minutes.

The hosts went ahead when Ceri Holland set up Mia Enderby, who calmly finished past Villa’s goalkeeper Sabrina D’Angelo.

Liverpool’s attack kept the pressure on, resulting in January loan signing Martha Thomas scoring her second league goal of the season. Holland assisted again as Thomas managed to poke the ball home after a deflection off Villa’s Miri Taylor.

Villa ended the first half strongly, with former Liverpool midfielder Taylor scoring her second goal of the season, capitalizing on a cross from Kirsty Hanson.

The second half saw Villa’s D’Angelo leave the pitch early due to a collision, with Ellie Roebuck stepping in as goalkeeper.

As the game approached its conclusion, both teams created chances, with Villa’s Hanson forcing a crucial save from Falk in an attempt to level the score.

Fisk then extended Liverpool’s lead with a volley from a corner that wasn’t fully cleared, hitting it beautifully past Roebuck.

In stoppage time, Csillag sealed the win with Liverpool’s fourth goal, deepening Villa’s struggles as they faced their third consecutive league defeat.

Liverpool has moved up to 11th place, leaving Leicester at the bottom, although Leicester still has a game in hand against the Reds.

Analysis: Positive Signs for Liverpool, Challenges for Villa

Liverpool has scored nine goals in their last five WSL matches, with Holland being a key creative force. Her assist for Enderby’s opener marked her third of the season.

The Reds outperformed in overall statistics, notching five shots on target, four significant chances, and 10 attempts from within the box.

For Aston Villa, it was a disappointing outing. Despite completing 448 passes to Liverpool’s 408, they struggled in front of goal, failing to create big chances and recording only three shots on target from six attempts inside the box.

Coach Natalia Arroyo must address the team’s concerning defensive record; Villa has now conceded 29 goals this season, trailing only West Ham (34) in that regard. Their recent performances have seen them concede four times against Manchester United and six against Manchester City.

Villa’s last clean sheet was a 3-0 victory against Liverpool two months ago, which stands in stark contrast to this recent rematch.
