Brian Barry-Murphy has confirmed he will retain his senior squad for Cardiff City’s final League One matches.
Having already secured promotion back to the Championship, the team has been encouraged to “enjoy” their upcoming games in the third tier.
As the Bluebirds prepare for a celebratory match against bottom-of-the-table Northampton Town on Saturday (15:00 BST), manager Barry-Murphy stated he has no plans to introduce more youth players and will continue to field the same squad that achieved a second-place finish this season.
This success relied heavily on academy graduates, including 24-year-old Isaak Davies, who is back in action after a hamstring injury sidelined him since February.
In contrast, forward Cian Ashford will miss the final two games of the season due to a back injury.
Midfielder Eli King, who has been out for most of the season with an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, is back in limited training but won’t be considered for selection. He is expected to return fully fit by the start of pre-season.
“We’ll choose the team on Friday based on who is in the best condition and provides us the best chance of winning,” Barry-Murphy said following Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Port Vale.
