The CEO of Sassuolo, Giovanni Carnevali, has issued a strong message to both Inter and AFC Bournemouth, confirming that centre-back Tarik Muharemovic will not be leaving the club during the January transfer window. He revealed, however, that “we’ve had contact from several clubs.”

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international initially joined Sassuolo on a season-long loan during the 2024-25 season with a conditional obligation to buy. The mandatory buy clause was triggered when Sassuolo achieved promotion from Serie B at the end of that season, resulting in a reported fee of €5 million, inclusive of bonuses.

Juventus has retained a 50% sell-on clause for Muharemovic, who some reports in Italy suggest could be valued at around €30 million.

In a media interaction before Sassuolo’s Serie A clash with Juventus, Carnevali emphasized that the club does not plan to part ways with Muharemovic this January, adding that the player’s “value” is contingent upon the interested clubs.
“His value depends on who’s asking,” Carnevali stated during an interview with DAZN. “We will not sell him in January. We’ve had interest from several clubs, he has a high value, but he needs to demonstrate it. The expectations are high.”
He further asserted, “We do not want to sell our key players. If an opportunity arises to strengthen the team, we will consider it, but our priority remains to acquire younger talents.”

In his comments regarding Tuesday’s match against Juventus, Carnevali noted, “Competing in matches like this is the pinnacle of our efforts. It’s one of many tough challenges we face. With a full stadium, the conditions are set for an exciting encounter.”
“If the result is in our favor, it will alter our objectives for the season. For now, our focus is on survival.”
Lastly, he provided a brief injury update, stating, “Berardi will be sidelined for about 10 days, as will Volpato.”
