Celik Resists Fiorentina…

Fiorentina and Fenerbahce recently made a last-minute effort to sign free agent Zeki Celik, but the Turkish international has reportedly already reached an agreement to sign a new contract with Roma.

The 29-year-old is currently a free agent since his contract with the Giallorossi expired on June 30.

This has made him an attractive option in the transfer market, with Fenerbahce submitting an offer, while Fiorentina has also expressed interest in the adaptable defender.

However, according to Corriere dello Sport reporter Eleonora Trotta, any efforts to secure a deal for Celik are likely futile, as he has already committed to a new contract with Roma.

Similar to his teammate Paulo Dybala, who signed earlier today, Celik will take a pay cut to comply with the new financial guidelines at the Stadio Olimpico.

Celik’s expected earnings at Roma are around €3 million per season, as the club has recently secured a spot in the Champions League.

He initially joined Roma in the summer of 2022 from Lille for a fee of €7.4 million along with a 15 percent share of any future sell-on fee, and has since made 151 competitive appearances for the club, scoring two goals and providing ten assists.
