Celtic In Safe Hands…

Simon Donnelly has expressed confidence that Celtic is in “safe hands” under Martin O’Neill as the club reportedly seeks to appoint Wilfried Nancy as its permanent manager.

O’Neill, the former boss, stepped in after Brendan Rodgers’ departure and has led the team in four matches, achieving two league victories, a League Cup semi-final win against Rangers, and a Europa League loss to Midtjylland.

“I believe it’s in safe hands with Martin and the coaching staff,” the former Celtic forward told BBC Scotland. “They have managed to elicit positive responses from the team. I think Celtic fans are likely feeling more at ease with the current leadership, and if this arrangement continues a bit longer, that’s perfectly fine.”

O’Neill has stated he would be “happy to still be here” for the Premiership clash against St Mirren on Saturday if needed.

With the League Cup final against St Mirren scheduled for December 14, Donnelly hopes that the 73-year-old will be allowed to manage the team during this significant match.

“That would be fantastic,” he added. “After the European match, many were uncertain when the new manager would arrive, but Celtic quickly regained form with a strong performance against Kilmarnock.

“Overall, the performances have been solid, and he is well-respected by the fans. I believe they are quite comfortable with him at the helm right now. From his post-match interviews, it seems he doesn’t intend to stay permanently, but if the team continues to win, it would be wonderful to see him lead them out at the final.”
