Lucia Lobato and Lucy Fitzgerald Renew Contracts with Charlton Athletic
Charlton Athletic has officially announced that both Lucia Lobato and Lucy Fitzgerald have signed new contracts with the club.
The Addicks revealed the news through updates on their official website earlier today, confirming that both players have committed to one-year deals at The Valley.
Lobato’s contract extension was the first to be announced. She joined Charlton Athletic from Olympique de Marseille last summer and made 15 appearances in Barclays WSL2 during the past season, scoring one goal.
Shortly thereafter, news of Fitzgerald’s new deal was confirmed. She also joined The Addicks last summer after departing from London City Lionesses and featured in every league match, netting five goals.
Expressing her enthusiasm about her contract extension, Lobato stated, “I’m very, very excited. I think this is what dreams are made of. When you’re young and wondering ‘how far will I go in football?’ and now playing in what I believe is the best league in the world, it’s amazing. It’s immensely validating that the club wants to continue with me, and I truly appreciate their trust and the opportunity.”
Fitzgerald added, “Last season was exceptional. I had a great time and loved the environment, the team, and everyone I collaborated with, making it a straightforward decision to stay. I enjoyed it, so why not continue?”
