Substitute Catarina Macario thought she had scored for Chelsea with a header, but it was ruled offside.
Carpenter missed Chelsea’s best opportunity in the second half, unable to convert a one-on-one situation after receiving a brilliant pass from Macario.
The draw positions Chelsea sixth in the league phase standings, while Barcelona sits joint-top alongside Lyon.
