– According to TeamTalk,
Chelsea is considering Matthias Jaissle, the manager of Al Ahli, to fill the managerial vacancy left by Rosenior.
Jaissle, who is just 38 years old, has minimal experience compared to Rosenior, having started his managerial career in 2021 with FC Liefering, followed by a successful tenure at Red Bull Salzburg.
Other potential candidates include the German national team’s Julian Nagelsmann, and outgoing managers Oliver Glasner (of Crystal Palace) and Andoni Iraola (of AFC Bournemouth).
Additionally, Cesc Fàbregas, currently managing Como, is also in consideration.

– AFC Bournemouth has entered the fray for USMNT forward Malik Tillman, potentially teaming him up with his fellow international Tyler Adams should he make the switch to the South Coast. TeamTalk has reported that Bayer Leverkusen is open to suitable offers for Tillman, although a €35 million buy-back clause from his former club, Bayern Munich, might limit their asking price. There is also interest from Fulham and Brentford.

Paris Saint-Germain has reached out to West Ham United regarding midfielder Mateus Fernandes, as reported by Footmercato. The Portuguese talent, who ranks No. 33 in ESPN’s list of under-21 players, would be the latest addition to PSG’s growing Portuguese contingent, which includes Gonçalo Ramos, João Neves, and Nuno Mendes. Meanwhile, PSG is also interested in AS Monaco winger Maghnes Akliouche, though competition from several Premier League teams exists. Monaco could be willing to part ways with the 24-year-old to improve their financial situation, while Akliouche is eager for a new challenge.

– Bayern Munich is targeting Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United and Kennet Eichhorn, a defensive midfielder from Hertha BSC, as per reports from Sky Sports Germany. Signing Gordon would allow him to reunite with England teammate Harry Kane, who he may partner during this summer’s FIFA World Cup.

– Both AC Milan and Bayern Munich could pursue Dusan Vlahovic as a free agent if he does not renew his contract with Juventus, as Sky Sports Italia reports. While Barcelona‘s striker Robert Lewandowski also has an expiring contract this summer, he may be a more attractive option for Juventus compared to Milan. Both players have been the topic of considerable discussion recently due to uncertainties surrounding their future contracts.

Expert Insight

ESPN senior writer Mark Odgen shares his thoughts on the reasons behind the brevity of Liam Rosenior’s tenure at Chelsea.

Liam Rosenior’s time as Chelsea head coach lasted only 106 days, and it was apparent from the second day that the 41-year-old was unprepared for the role he had been given.

In fact, it was evident from his very first day, given his lack of top-level coaching experience and the misguided belief from BlueCo, Chelsea’s owners, that Rosenior could smoothly transition from managing a partner club, Strasbourg, to handling a squad of star players at Stamford Bridge after the departure of Enzo Maresca.

Rosenior’s missteps and his corporate jargon about “alignment” and “process” resulted in him becoming a figure of ridicule, drawing mockery from former teammates about his transformation into a seemingly unrecognizable figure. Sources informed ESPN that Rosenior was so affected by the backlash that he privately confronted some critics, with one expressing surprise that a Chelsea coach would allow himself to be sidetracked by external noise.
