Chelsea striker Marc Guiu…

Striker Marc Guiu has recently been rumored to be leaving Chelsea, with sources indicating that he may have requested a transfer.

Since the start of the year, Guiu has only appeared in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final against Arsenal, where Chelsea suffered a defeat.

This season, Chelsea has primarily utilized a single striker, and with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap positioned ahead of him in the lineup, Guiu has found it difficult to get significant playing time.

Pedro has contributed 19 goal involvements in all competitions, while Delap has provided five.

However, journalist Simon Johnson now reports that Guiu has not, in fact, submitted a transfer request. He asserts that the young striker remains loyal to Chelsea and is eager to aid the team’s success this season.

Guiu joined Chelsea from Barcelona in the summer of 2024 and has made just 27 appearances in all competitions, netting eight goals and providing two assists.

Most of his appearances have come from the bench, with Guiu starting only 12 times, highlighting his struggles for consistent playing time.

The Spain youth international arrived with high expectations after developing at Barcelona as part of Chelsea’s long-term recruitment approach. However, injuries and competition for spots have hindered his impact at the London club.

Guiu had initially agreed to a loan move to Sunderland last summer but made just three appearances before being recalled due to an injury to Liam Delap.

Given Chelsea’s efforts to secure Champions League qualification and compete for trophies, his playing opportunities are unlikely to change before the season concludes.

Consequently, manager Liam Rosenior is expected to continue favoring Pedro and Delap as the primary strikers for the duration of the campaign.

With Emmanuel Emegha set to join from Strasbourg next summer, competition for starting positions will intensify, raising further uncertainties about Guiu’s future at Chelsea.
