A €55 million bid is enough to entice one club into selling their star player.
Richard Hughes started off promisingly at Liverpool with some thrilling signings last summer, but it’s clear that the rebuilding process at Anfield is still in its early stages.

While there’s undeniable talent in the current lineup, the team feels somewhat incomplete and unbalanced. This imbalance is one of the key differences between today’s Liverpool and the squad that Jurgen Klopp managed during the club’s golden era.
At their best, Klopp’s Liverpool exemplified aggression, intensity, technical skill, and physical prowess, but what truly set them apart was their startling pace. Each player complemented one another, making the entire system nearly impossible to counteract.
Currently, that harmony is lacking.
Liverpool still boasts technically adept players, and most of the squad demonstrates commendable work ethic. However, they evidently struggle with genuine explosiveness in attack. In previous seasons, the team often relied on the blistering speed of Sadio Mané to wreak havoc on opponents during transitions.

Even at his best, Luis Diaz offered unpredictability and speed. Meanwhile, while Mohamed Salah remains world-class in many respects, his explosive acceleration isn’t what it used to be.
This reduction in pace has altered Liverpool’s attacking dynamic. They seem less threatening in open spaces and are not as capable of overwhelming rivals with fast transitions.
Consequently, injecting speed and athleticism has become a clear priority for Liverpool’s recruitment team as they approach another significant summer transfer window.
It is essential to find players who can restore the directness, pace, and unpredictability that Liverpool once showcased with Sadio Mane and peak Salah, as this is crucial for the club’s rejuvenation.

Arne Slot has emphasized that enhancing the squad’s speed is a key focus, and it’s easy to see why. Liverpool no longer exude the same explosiveness in transitions, and regaining that attacking sharpness is vital if they wish to compete at the highest levels again.
The challenge lies in identifying the right players.
There are few elite wingers in world football who possess both true pace and top-notch one-on-one skills, and the few available are already rostered at Europe’s biggest clubs. The top wide players are currently at clubs like Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich.
Players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Michael Olise, and Lamine Yamal are unfortunately not available.

Even if there were opportunities to secure them, Liverpool would face challenges convincing these players to leave clubs that are currently competing at the highest levels and offering more stability in their projects.
Yan Diomande is a prime candidate for this role, but another name on the club’s radar is Bazoumana Toure.
Toure rose to fame at Hammarby after moving from the Ivory Coast. With Hammarby, he amassed 12 goal contributions in roughly 1,700 minutes before making a significant move to Hoffenheim.
The Ivorian international offers a different attacking profile than Liverpool’s current wingers. Toure excels at driving at defenders, boasting the best dribble completion rate among players averaging at least 4.5 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga (69%). He’s also skilled at pushing down the flanks.
With 17 goal contributions in the Bundesliga this season, Toure presents an ideal profile for Liverpool, especially given that he is only 19 years old.
According to Fussbaldaten, Liverpool is indeed showing considerable interest in Toure and is prepared to meet the €50 to €55 million asking price for the Ivorian.
At that price, Toure would be an incredible bargain, and he fits the bill as exactly the type of pacey, direct winger Liverpool urgently needs right now.
