Italian club Como have completed the signing of defender Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea in a deal worth over £30m.
The 27-year-old has agreed a five-year contract with Cesc Fabregas’ side, who secured a Champions League place by finishing fourth in Serie A last season.
Chelsea will receive an initial £25.7m, with a further £5.1m in add-ons after lengthy negotiations.
Capped twice by England and a late call-up to a World Cup squad, the centre-back leaves his boyhood club nearly two decades after joining as a youngster.
Fabregas said Chalobah is a statement addition who matches the club’s ambitions, describing him as a leader who can elevate the team, and expressed his delight that he chose Como.
Chalobah said he is thrilled and honored to join an ambitious, upward-looking project and that working with Fabregas again is especially meaningful.
He made 151 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions, winning five trophies, including the FA Cup in 2018 and the Europa Conference League in 2025.
Chalobah also spent time on loan at Ipswich, Huddersfield, Lorient and Crystal Palace.
