Conte: Napoli and Roma…

Antonio Conte emphasizes the ‘positive performances’ from Napoli following their recent exit from the Coppa Italia, anticipating an ‘aggressive and intense’ match against Roma this evening.

The match is set to kick off at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at 19:45 GMT (20:45 CET).

What was once a Scudetto race has turned into a contest for third place after some disappointing recent outcomes.

Serie A is now the sole focus for Napoli, who have recently exited both the Champions League and the Coppa Italia, including a penalty shoot-out defeat to Como earlier this week.

“We delivered a strong performance against Como, but in penalties, anything can happen, and unfortunately, we didn’t progress to the semi-finals,” Conte stated in an interview with DAZN Italia.

“Nonetheless, the team is in good shape, putting in commendable performances, and I couldn’t ask for more from them. We are discovering various solutions as we need to adapt when players are unavailable.”

Scott McTominay re-aggravated a tendon injury during the 3-2 victory over Genoa and has yet to recover, joining Giovanni Di Lorenzo, David Neres, Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, Kevin De Bruyne, and suspended Juan Jesus on the sidelines.

Earlier this season, Napoli secured a 1-0 victory against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico, but several key players from that match, including Noa Lang and David Neres, will not compete tonight.

“We have prepared our typical strategy; we won’t adopt a defensive posture. Our goal is to attack Roma, regain possession swiftly, and develop strategies to challenge them effectively,” Conte explained.

“Roma also thrives on aggression and intensity, so I expect an exciting match for the spectators,” Conte concluded.
