Crystal Palace secured a solid 3-1 victory against Al-Ula, a team from Saudi Arabia’s second tier, finishing fifth in the Como Cup.
Justin Devenny, playing as an attacking midfielder, got the Eagles off to a roaring start with a precise near-post finish just a minute into the match.

“We practice that kind of play in training regularly,” Devenny shared with Palace TV. “Once we regain possession, we aim to counter-attack swiftly, just like we did throughout last season.”
“I believe having the ability to play in various positions is a strength. I found myself in different spots at times last season, but I’m content playing wherever the team needs me.”
Moments later, 20-year-old Rio Cardines assisted Eddie Nketiah, who finished from close range, extending Palace’s lead within the first 10 minutes.
Although Abdulmajeed Al-Sulaiheem managed to score for Al-Ula in the 16th minute, center-back Jaydee Canvot sealed the victory by scoring from a corner in the 57th minute.

Chris Richards and Daichi Kamada made their pre-season debuts under new manager Pierre Sage after returning from the World Cup.
