We sought your opinions on the concerns raised by BBC Radio Manchester presenter Gaz Drinkwater, who questioned whether Matheus Cunha would fit into Michael Carrick’s preferred 4-2-3-1 formation.
Here are some of your thoughts:

Jason: I believe Cunha is one of the few players capable of adjusting to various formations and making it work effectively. There are definitely others who concern me more and struggle in any position!
Samuel: In a 4-2-3-1 system, wingers are often inverted to support the striker, and Cunha has experience playing up front, so he can fill any role in the forward line. While we all want to see Fernandes at the No. 10 position, he’s now 30, and there will hopefully be more games next season… he will need to rest.
Tom: Only time will reveal how Cunha performs. It’s fair to say he wasn’t exactly at his best in Amorin’s system either. Hopefully, Carrick can maximize his potential. My bigger concern is that the squad is currently overloaded with defenders while lacking options in midfield.
Josh: I think Mount should be more worried than Cunha; he could even be considered third choice as an attacking midfielder now. I believe he should be moved on in January to allow for the signing of a defensive midfielder or a right/left back.

Brian: Any player wearing a United shirt should be capable of playing in any system. If they can’t, they don’t belong in the club, which is a significant issue. Many of them simply aren’t good enough for United and wouldn’t make the squad, let alone the starting lineup, of teams like Arsenal or City.
Stephen: Remember when United had a front three of Tevez, Rooney, and Ronaldo in arguably their best side back in 2008? I don’t recall people worrying about whether Tevez or Rooney were out of their preferred positions! Great players can adapt to various roles, so we’ll see how Cunha performs. He hasn’t exactly lit up a 3-4-3 formation, has he???
