Declan Rice is set to be fit to start England’s World Cup round-of-32 clash with DR Congo on Wednesday.
The influential midfielder sat out the 2-0 victory over Panama after taking a heavy calf knock in last Tuesday’s goalless draw with Ghana.
Rice, 27, couldn’t complete the full training programme before the Panama match, though he did return in time for the team’s final session before flying to New Jersey.
In his absence, Thomas Tuchel started with a midfield of Elliot Anderson and Jude Bellingham.
Even so, the England manager is confident the Arsenal midfielder will be available to rejoin the starting XI for the knockout tie against DR Congo in Atlanta.
Tuchel’s main injury concerns heading into the knockout stages are Reece James and Jarell Quansah.
Chelsea full-back James missed the win over Panama after sustaining a hamstring issue against Ghana.
While Tuchel has not ruled James out for the DR Congo match, the expectation is that the right-back’s return will come later in the tournament.
