Real Madrid triumphed over Atletico Madrid 2-1 on Thursday, securing a spot in the Spanish Supercup final. However, the main focus of the match was the numerous altercations between Vinicius Junior and Diego Simeone.
The tension escalated in the 81st minute, leading to both individuals receiving yellow cards. This rivalry had roots in the first half, where Movistar+ cameras (via MD) captured Simeone taunting Vinicius about his ongoing struggles at Real Madrid.

“Florentino (Perez) is going to kick you out (of Real Madrid), remember that later,” he remarked.

Simeone Comments on Vinicius Incident
After the match, Simeone was questioned about the confrontations with Vinicius, during which he attempted to temper the situation but inadvertently intensified it.
“I have nothing to add. I’ve always believed that what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch, and that’s my position. I have tremendous respect for Carvajal and all the Real Madrid players, and I clearly conveyed my perspective on what’s visible from outside and what they are experiencing,” he stated.

Vinicius’ situation at Real Madrid appears to be increasingly precarious. Supporters have begun to lose faith in him due to his lackluster performances, and with just 18 months remaining on his contract, there is a real possibility he could depart the Bernabeu in 2026 or 2027.
Given Simeone’s remarks, it’s possible he influenced Vinicius’ mindset, particularly as the Brazilian delivered another subdued performance. Nonetheless, Vinicius ended up smiling in Jeddah, as Real Madrid is set to face El Clasico rivals Barcelona in Sunday’s Supercup final, looking to secure a consecutive victory over them.
