A stunning goal from Dundalk’s Tyreke Wilson neutralized an early strike from James Clarke.

Dipo Akinyemi briefly put Derry back in front before halftime, but Ronan Teehan’s header in the second half ensured Dundalk earned a well-deserved point.

In a dramatic finish, Derry ended the match with 10 players as substitute James McClean received two yellow cards in quick succession during stoppage time.

With this draw, Derry remains in seventh place, still searching for a win in seven games, now only three points above the relegation play-off spot after Sligo Rovers’ victory.

Lynch Faces Increasing Pressure as Derry Struggles

Gbemi Arubi set up Declan McDaid, but his shot was directed straight at Derry’s goalkeeper, Eddie Beach.

Despite having scored first just once this season, it was Lynch’s team that took the lead.

Ben Doherty delivered the ball across for Clarke, who slotted home a quarter of an hour in, marking just Derry’s third first-half goal of the season.

Mayowa Animasahun nearly leveled for Dundalk, but Beach made a fantastic save, tipping his header over the bar.

It was Wilson who struck back for Dundalk, smashing home the equalizer on 35 minutes with a powerful half-volley from distance.

However, Derry regained the lead in first-half stoppage time, as Akinyemi redirected Doherty’s rebound from a free-kick past the wrong-footed Enda Minnogue.

Having claimed 13 points from their last 15, Dundalk intensified their attack in the second half to find an equalizer.

Eoin Kenny’s shot was blocked by Derry center-back Jamie Stott, followed shortly by Beach making an excellent save against an unmarked Harvery Warren.

John Ross Wilson missed a seven-yard opportunity that he should have converted, while Teehan’s attempt from outside the box was deftly dealt with by the impressive Beach.

On the counter, Derry substitute Josh Thomas showcased his speed, cutting inside but shooting wide from a tight angle.

Dundalk finally made it 2-2 in the 79th minute with Teehan’s downward header evading Beach.

Kenny then struck the post, coming close to securing all three points for Dundalk.

In stoppage time, McClean received his first yellow card and was sent off soon after for another foul.

Despite a spirited display, Derry’s winless streak persists as they look ahead to their next match against Shelbourne away.
