Dundee Utd Loan Stirton to…

Dundee United has loaned out striker Owen Stirton to Ayr United for the entire season, with manager Jim Goodwin emphasizing the importance of the 19-year-old gaining regular first-team experience.

Last season, Stirton made seven appearances on loan at Airdrieonians, starting in three of those matches, as the team faced relegation from the Championship.

Now, he will join Ayr in the second tier under the guidance of new head coach Gary Naysmith.

Stirton also featured 17 times for Dundee United last season, starting three games and only managing to score once—during a 2-1 League Cup loss to Kilmarnock in August.

In an interview with Ayr United TV, he remarked: “The playing style at Airdrie didn’t suit me, but I returned to United and participated in the last four games. Scoring goals is my responsibility, and I feel confident doing that.”

Previously, Stirton netted nine goals in 14 appearances during a loan spell at Montrose in League One. Goodwin explained on the club’s website: “We believe this is a great opportunity for Owen to further his development at a solid club and to get the essential game time at this stage of his career. As I’ve mentioned with Sam, it’s crucial for younger players to consistently play, and Ayr is an excellent club that will take good care of him.”
