Dyche and Mancini Compete…

Sean Dyche is competing with former Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini for the position of head coach at Nottingham Forest, according to sources cited by ESPN. Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis is considering Mancini as a potential alternative to Dyche, the former manager of Burnley and Everton.

The club is currently seeking their third manager of the season following the recent sacking of Ange Postecoglou, which occurred just 19 minutes after their 3-0 home loss to Chelsea on Saturday.

Postecoglou, who had previously managed Tottenham, Celtic, and Australia, spent just 39 days in his role, overseeing eight winless matches since his appointment to replace Nuno Espírito Santo last month.

While Dyche is currently viewed as the leading candidate for the managerial role, discussions have occurred with the 54-year-old, whose ties to the club trace back to his days as a youth player in the 1980s. However, he is not guaranteed the position, as Marinakis is also interested in evaluating Mancini’s qualifications for the job.

Mancini, who is 60 years old, hasn’t coached in English football since being dismissed by City in May 2013, a year after he led the team to its first league title in 44 years before reportedly clashing with several key players.

After his time at City, Mancini went on to coach Galatasaray, Inter Milan, and Zenit St Petersburg. He has not been back in club management since 2018, when he took the helm of the Italian national team, leading them to victory at Euro 2020. Mancini has been without a job since leaving his role as Saudi Arabia coach in October 2024.
