Ederson Extends Contract…

Brazilian midfielder Ederson has officially extended his contract with Atalanta, following the breakdown of his anticipated transfer to Manchester United.

On June 2, United had reached an agreement for a £35 million fee for the 27-year-old.

A medical examination that was to be conducted at the beginning of July was canceled when Ederson received a late call-up to join his national team for the World Cup due to Wesley’s injury.

After initial medical assessments in the United States raised concerns, he ultimately completed a full medical examination in England.

These tests occurred following Brazil’s World Cup last-16 defeat by Norway.

Involvement from specialists led to Manchester United deciding to withdraw from the deal.

Although sources informed BBC Sport that the transfer could still potentially happen later this summer under different conditions, Ederson has chosen to renew his commitment to Atalanta.

The Serie A club did not disclose the specifics of the new contract’s duration.

In recent transfers, Michael Carrick’s squad has signed midfielders Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos from Aston Villa and Chelsea, along with goalkeeper Karl Darlow from Leeds United.
