Wolves manager Rob Edwards addressed the media ahead of Monday’s Premier League match against Manchester United at Molineux (20:00 GMT).
Here are the main points from his press conference:
-
Edwards revealed that Marshall Munetsi underwent a scan today, stating, “We believe he has strained his calf, but we don’t have all the details yet.”
-
Joao Gomes received a yellow card in Wednesday’s loss against Nottingham Forest, which means he will be unavailable for the game against United. “It’s frustrating because it wasn’t even a foul, yet now he’s suspended,” he commented.
-
Discussing the recent defeat, Edwards noted, “If we are going to lose, we need to consider how we want to handle that. Engaging with the players and gathering feedback was positive – we don’t want to experience that kind of loss again. Inconsistency is one reason we find ourselves in this situation. It was disappointing to see such a strong performance on Sunday followed by a different outcome just three days later.”
-
Regarding the pressure to secure Wolves’ first victory of the season, he stated, “That’s just part of our job. Everyone feels pressure – even Mikel [Arteta] for his own reasons. How do we alleviate it? By being consistent. We must approach both on and off the pitch as if we are winners.”
-
On discussions with the club’s board about potential January transfers, Edwards said, “The meeting went well. There will be a lot happening between now and January, with plans for various scenarios. It was a constructive discussion where we provided feedback on our current squad and potential targets. This situation will evolve as we move further into the month.”
-
Addressing squad fatigue, he remarked, “While there are some tired bodies, that’s to be expected. They are coping well, but there’s a lot of disappointment. We reviewed everything this morning and came away with clarity for moving forward.”
-
On the challenge posed by Ruben Amorim’s side, he said, “They possess many quality players and a clear style of play, which we will analyze thoroughly. My focus must remain on us, and we need to show up differently than we did in the first half the previous night.”
