Jude Bellingham’s season has not been without its challenges, as the Real Madrid midfielder missed the initial weeks of the campaign due to shoulder surgery over the summer. After a slow start, he has managed to regain his form, but another concern has recently emerged.

During the international break, Bellingham faced backlash in England for his reaction when substituted in the match against Albania. However, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright has stepped in to defend him, asserting that a significant portion of the criticism directed at the young Real Madrid star stems from individuals who feel threatened by his talent, as reported by MD.

“I’m concerned about Jude because he’s someone the media can’t easily control. He’s out there making a statement: I’m black, I’m proud, and I’m ready. I don’t believe England is prepared for a black superstar,” Wright said.

“They can’t silence him. He goes out there and performs with confidence. His boldness seems to intimidate some people. There’s an ineffable ability that he possesses, and the inspiration he can provide seems to unsettle them.”

“To explain in football terms: everyone adores N’Golo Kanté for his humility and demeanor. However, if you have someone like Paul Pogba or Jude Bellingham, who exude that kind of energy, it doesn’t sit well with certain people.”

Bellingham’s First England Start Since June

The match against Albania marked Bellingham’s first start of the season for England, as he had previously been left out of the October squad at his own request. Despite missing some key moments due to the impressive performances of other players, he was honored with the MVP award for his showing in Tirana.

Bellingham has now returned to Real Madrid, as he and his teammates prepare for their match against Elche this Sunday.
