Estevao made a notable entrance into the Chelsea squad during the opening weekend of the 2025-26 Premier League season, but his standout moment came in October against Liverpool. Coming on as a substitute in the 75th minute, he scored a last-gasp winner that handed Chelsea victory over the reigning champions, prompting even Enzo Maresca to rush over and celebrate with him.
“It was a classic moment. He comes on and scores a goal like that, showcasing his personality,” remarked Juninho.
More memorable instances followed, with one of the most significant occurring in a Champions League match against Barcelona just a month later. The match was highly anticipated as a showdown between two teenage prodigies, but this time Estevao managed to steal the limelight from Lamine Yamal.
After receiving a pass from Reece James, Estevao skillfully maneuvered past Alejandro Balde and struck a powerful shot into the net, leaving goalkeeper Joan Garcia with no chance.
However, it was more than just the goal—Estevao played as if he were enjoying a casual game in a park.
His carefree style can be traced back to his upbringing. “His father always told him that to become a professional, he needed to sacrifice many things. Ultimately, his childhood unfolded on the pitch,” said Serginho. “He has always cherished playing in front of a full stadium. For him, it feels very natural. Why? Because he is happy. He plays with joy and a smile.”
His father’s advice was straightforward: maintain responsibility while finding joy in the game.
Estevao’s extraordinary talent began garnering attention at a young age. “The fence around the pitch would be lined with spectators eager to watch him train. On matchdays, people traveled from afar. From a young age, he always attracted a crowd,” Juninho recounted.
Before his transfer to Chelsea, the academy faced overwhelming interest. “When he walked in during our training sessions, people from outside began to flood in, faces I had never seen before,” remarked youth team coach Juninho. “We had to bring him into the office and shut the door because there were so many people inside.”
