Chema Andrés, a former standout from the Real Madrid academy, is thriving following his transition to the Bundesliga.
After departing Real Madrid last summer, the midfielder joined Stuttgart, eager to secure first-team play, and he is relishing every aspect of his new journey in Germany.
Despite being a newcomer in a foreign league, Chema has quickly built a solid reputation among his teammates.
A regular with the Spain Under-21 team and a European Under-19 champion in 2024, Chema has drawn parallels to Rodri Hernández.
Navigating New Challenges at Stuttgart
In a recent interview with EFE (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the former Real Madrid player discussed his role with the Bundesliga side.
“In Germany, I’m the rookie. But I embrace this learning role, being the newcomer who gets to watch experienced players and learn how things work,” he stated.
He values the opportunity to gain insights from seasoned teammates while accruing vital first-team experience.
His decision to move to Germany was made thoughtfully, as he elaborated:
“After considering all my options, we concluded that Germany and Stuttgart offered the best environment for me to grow and gain experience.”

“Stuttgart is a prominent club in Germany, and they have been investing significantly in young talent, which is exactly what I needed.”
“The club has faith in younger players and isn’t hesitant to give them a chance in the spotlight.”
“Moreover, after discussing with several of my past coaches, they advised me that playing abroad would be beneficial for my development.”
“They emphasized that this change of scenery would enrich me both as a player and as a person.”
Drawing Inspiration from Rodri
Chema acknowledges being compared to Rodri Hernández, a player highly regarded by Real Madrid, but maintains a humble view.
“It’s true that people make that comparison, but the only similarity is that we both tuck our shirts in. He’s an exceptional player, and I aspire to reach his level.”
“Rodri serves as an inspiration for all Spanish players in my position as we see aspects of ourselves in him.”
Chema’s transition to Stuttgart is already yielding positive results.
With a focused mindset on learning, adapting, and evolving as a player, he’s integrating well into the team, and if all goes as planned, Real Madrid holds a buy-back option, which they are currently evaluating.
