Currently, the Reds find themselves in 5th place in the Premier League but are close to securing a Champions League spot for next season.
With 17 losses across all competitions, the pressure on head coach Arne Slot is mounting, despite his remarkable achievement of winning the title in his first season.
Sadly, the club is heading towards a trophyless term for the third time in eight years, having already exited all cup competitions.
Nonetheless, recent reports suggest that Slot has the unwavering support of the Liverpool management, and he is expected to continue in his role at Anfield next season.
Former Liverpool defender Markus Babbel shared his perspective exclusively with Anfield Index regarding the Dutch manager’s future.

Babbel: “He’s a Top Manager!”
When asked to assess Slot’s performance this season, Babbel emphasized that his achievements speak for themselves.
“He won the league with Feyenoord and then with Liverpool, competing against big teams like Ajax, PSV, and Man City and Arsenal,” Babbel remarked. “He clearly is a top manager!”

Nevertheless, Babbel highlighted the difficulties Slot has faced this season.
“He has encountered challenges,” Babbel acknowledged. “Some of his decisions and lineups have been puzzling.”
A major concern has been Slot’s management of Liverpool’s latest signings. The club invested a record £400 million last summer.

Players such as Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Giovanni Leoni were signed, yet Slot has yet to maximize their potential.
Looking Forward
As it stands, Liverpool is on the brink of qualifying for the Champions League, which brings optimism as they approach the summer transfer window.
While significant changes are needed, the management appears to have faith in Slot guiding the club back on track.
Despite the frustrations among fans, Babbel emphasizes that Slot is a capable head coach, deserving of another opportunity. However, the future remains uncertain for now…
