Bruno Fernandes is poised to achieve a remarkable accolade double after being nominated for the 2026 PFA Player of the Year award.
The Manchester United captain, who recently won the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year title, is among six nominees for the PFA award, which is determined by votes from Professional Footballers’ Association (PFA) members.
He also recently claimed the Premier League Player of the Season award.

At 31 years old, Fernandes set a new Premier League record with 21 assists in a single season, contributing to United’s Champions League qualification with a third-place finish. If he wins the player vote, he will become the first Old Trafford player since Wayne Rooney in 2010 to win the PFA award.
Arsenal, who secured the title, has three nominees: Declan Rice, David Raya, and Gabriel Magalhães — while Manchester City is represented by Rayan Cherki and Erling Haaland, rounding out the six nominees.
Haaland is the only previous award winner on this year’s shortlist, having won the honor after assisting Manchester City in achieving a treble in 2023.
The award winner will be declared during a ceremony at The Opera House in Manchester on August 25.
