Flamengo and Palmeiras Set…

This Saturday (23), Flamengo will take on Palmeiras at the Maracanã Stadium at 9 p.m. (Brasília time) as part of the 17th round of the 2026 Brasileirão — the second to last match before the World Cup break.

This encounter is often referred to as the “final” of the league format, with Verdão currently leading the standings at 35 points, while Rubro-Negro trails closely behind with 31 points.

Additionally, the Rio-based team has a game in hand.

Palmeiras’ coach, Abel Ferreira, has opted to field the same starting lineup that secured a 1-0 victory against Cerro Porteño in the Libertadores.

On the other hand, Flamengo, fresh from a 1-0 win over Estudiantes in the continental tournament, will see coach Leonardo Jardim start Varela, Alex Sandro, Lucas Paquetá, and Samuel Lino in place of Emerson Royal, Ayrton Lucas, Luiz Araújo, and Bruno Henrique, respectively.
