Retaining an aging and unsettled goalkeeper at a record salary solely for sentimental reasons is unwise.
Consequently, I believe Villa no longer requires Martinez. The transfer fee he could generate is more valuable to the club than his contributions on the field. Pursuing a replacement such as Diogo Costa or a younger, more affordable talent like James Trafford would be a more pragmatic long-term strategy. If an offer in the region of £35-40 million materializes, Aston Villa should consider accepting it, reinvesting the funds, and moving forward. All indications suggest a summer exit is likely, and a transfer to Juventus appears to be an ideal next chapter for a player of his caliber.
