Journalist Florian Plettenberg reports that Real Madrid and RB Leipzig are nearing the completion of a transfer deal for Ivorian winger Yan Diomande, following a significant breakthrough in negotiations.
Only the final formalities and paperwork are left before both clubs officially sign the contracts, marking the conclusion of one of the most notable transfer stories of the summer window.

Financial Details of the Transfer
The financial terms of the deal have been fully agreed upon by both clubs. Real Madrid will pay a guaranteed fixed transfer fee of €125 million to the Bundesliga side.
In addition to the fixed fee, the deal encompasses several performance-related bonuses.
With easily attainable bonuses, the total cost of the transfer could quickly rise to €135 million.
If all the more challenging performance-related bonuses, such as individual or team trophies, are achieved during the player’s contract, the total could ultimately escalate to €140 million.

Upon hitting these bonus milestones, the 19-year-old Ivory Coast international will officially become the most expensive signing in Real Madrid’s history, surpassing the previous records set for Jude Bellingham and Eden Hazard.
Financial Gain for Leganes
The finalization of this transfer will also yield significant financial benefits for Spanish club Leganes.
Diomande spent the first half of 2025 playing for Leganes’ reserve team before transferring to Germany six months later.
When Diomande initially moved from Spain to Leipzig, Leganes retained a sell-on clause as part of the original agreement.
With this transfer, Leganes will receive approximately 5% of the total profit generated from this sale by the Bundesliga club, providing a much-needed financial boost ahead of the new domestic season.
Final Steps Before the Announcement
Diomande, who recently recovered from an infection and has joined Leipzig’s training camp in Austria to get back in shape, is now awaiting the final confirmation to exit the camp.
Having previously agreed to a contract with Real Madrid until June 2030, he has mentally moved on from the German team.
With the club-to-club breakthrough achieved, Diomande may soon head to Spain to complete his mandatory medical examinations at the Sanitas clinic before being officially introduced to fans as Real Madrid’s latest signing.
