Germany Pursues Klopp…

The German Football Association (DFB) is initiating discussions with Jurgen Klopp regarding the position of head coach for the national men’s team following Julian Nagelsmann’s resignation.

Nagelsmann requested to step down on Thursday after the team’s disappointing early exit from the World Cup.

In response, the DFB has accepted his request and officially ended their contract with the 38-year-old former Bayern Munich manager.

The DFB stated that it “will now seek talks with Jurgen Klopp,” noting that he has already expressed a general willingness to take on the role.

Germany was eliminated from the World Cup on Monday after suffering a penalty shootout loss to Paraguay in the Round of 32.

Initially, Nagelsmann, who took charge in 2023, was determined to stay on, stating after the match: “I’m not someone who runs away.”

However, in a statement on Friday, he reflected: “I’ve done a lot of thinking in the days since our elimination and have consulted with trusted individuals both personally and within the federation. My decision was far from easy. My top priority has always been the team’s success. After such a bitter disappointment, they deserve the chance for a fresh start.”

Further updates will follow.
