Roma’s manager, Gian Piero Gasperini, expressed frustration following his team’s 2-1 defeat to Como in Serie A, a result that set them back in the Champions League race.

A second-half red card for Wesley significantly shifted the dynamics of the match. Roma initially took the lead with an early penalty from Donyell Malen, but the tide turned with goals from Anastasious Douvikas and Diego Carlos following Wesley’s dismissal.

In his post-match remarks to DAZN, Gasperini seemed exasperated by the outcome, opting not to elaborate extensively on the result.

He remarked, as reported by Corriere dello Sport: “I’ve experienced everything at this point, and commenting on the situation in football right now, especially the simulations, seems futile.”

“This was a difficult moment, similar to the play leading to their equalizer. We were aware of their ability to exploit such situations and had been defending the goalkeeper’s long balls effectively.”

He appeared to critique the refereeing decisions during the match, noting that his team exhibited signs of fatigue, especially after Malen squandered a significant opportunity to extend their lead to 2-0 before the match took a downturn.

“Maybe exhaustion affected us prior to the Malen chance, which could have restored our advantage. We do our best, but these incidents do stand out.”

With this victory, Como now sits three points ahead of Roma in the race for Champions League qualification. Juventus occupies fifth place, adding to the intrigue in Serie A.
