Gilmour Weighs Surgery as…

Billy Gilmour is unlikely to return to action for Napoli until the new year and is reportedly contemplating surgery for a groin issue, adding to an injury list that already features Kevin De Bruyne and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa.

Gilmour Facing Possible Surgery and Six-Week Recovery

Gilmour has been sidelined since early November after sustaining an injury during a 0-0 draw with Como at Stadio Sinigaglia. Antonio Conte explained in a press conference that this is not a muscular injury, but rather one involving inflammation.

Recent reports from Sky Sport Italia indicate that Gilmour has consulted with a specialist in the UK and is now considering surgery to resolve the issue.

Reports on Thursday suggest that if Gilmour opts for surgery, he may face an additional six-week recovery period, totaling approximately 45 days. Should this occur, Gilmour would have been out for nearly 10 weeks due to the injury.

Conte’s midfield options have already been depleted due to hamstring injuries affecting De Bruyne and Anguissa, both of whom are expected to be out for several months and likely will not return until the new year.
