Giovanni van Bronckhorst…

The future of Givairo Read at Feyenoord remains unclear with the Eredivisie season set to kick off this weekend. Coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst has talked about different possibilities concerning Read’s situation.

Throughout this transfer window, Read has drawn interest from both Nottingham Forest and AS Roma, but no deals have materialized. Most recently, a potential move to Roma fell through as Feyenoord’s €30 million asking price was deemed too high.

The returning manager from Rotterdam addressed the right-back’s situation and his potential for staying at De Kuip.

“I see a very mature player, and we’ve discussed various scenarios,” Van Bronckhorst stated at his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Sparta Rotterdam.

“There’s a possibility he stays here, but there’s also a chance he might leave. I’ve talked to him about this, and he is in a good place. You wouldn’t know he’s been in negotiations; he trains well and maintains a positive attitude.”

Despite the stalled talks regarding his transfer, Van Bronckhorst couldn’t confirm whether Read would remain with the team. “He is a player in high demand, but agreements need to be reached between clubs. I can’t say that a deal is completely off the table.”

On the topic of career decisions, Van Bronckhorst shared some insights. “You just have to keep training and developing yourself, waiting for the right opportunity to materialize. I remained calm, even when my dream club, Barcelona, expressed interest.”
